2.5.0 Check measurement:

2.5.1

The SDO should necessarily check measure

) all final bills on running accounts; ) all first & final bills over Rs.500 (iii) Works included in all kinds of bills over Rs.100 which are not susceptible of measurements after certain stage (iv) all intermediate bills on running accounts.

2.5.2 Check measurement is intended to detect errors and prevent fraudulent entries in the measurements. It should therefore be done with discretion and method. The items which appear most likely to be incorrect and most easily susceptible of fraud and those which would seriously affect the total of the bill, if inaccurate, should be selected for check measurement. No payment shall be made for any item not check measured by the DyEE.

2.5.3 All items of work constituting a set of measurements recorded by the SO in a day shall be check measured by the DyEE (all items costing more than Rs. 500) duly covering a large portion of each item.

EE shall invariably check measure all works costing Rs. 5,00,000 and above covering all the major items not less than 30% of the total expenditure incurred each time and a certificate to the following effect shall be recorded in MB and Bill: “Certified that check measurement by the Executive Engineer has been carried out covering not less than 30% of the total expenditure incurred each time vide pages of MB Nos. “1

2.5.5

The SE shall invariably check measure all works costing Rs. 50,00,000 and above at 1/3rd, 2/3rd stages of work, and before final measurements and such check measurement shall cover not less than 30% of the total expenditure incurred each time and a certificate to the following effect shall be recorded in MB and bill:

“Certified that check measurement by the Superintending Engineer has been carried out at 1/3rd, 2/3rd and final stage of the work, covering not less than 30% of the total expenditure incurred each time vide pages of MB Nos. “(

2.5.6 The Check measuring Officer shall put his initials on the left side of the ‘particulars’ column in token of his having check measured that line of measurement and this has to be observed by all the Check measuring Officers (DyEE/EE/SE).

2.5.7 After conducting the check measurement, the Check measuring Officer shall record endorsement ‘Check measured by me from pages of this MB’ under his signature with date on the left side of the appropriate page. to
